My first delivery session!

First of all, I HAVE to thank Jennifer and Cody for allowing me to be a part of such an intimate day. Photographing the birth of little Owen was such a humbling and beautiful thing. I have never been in a delivery other than the ones of my two children. It is such an amazing experience from the other side of it (the pain FREE side!). I have so much respect and love for Jennifer and how strong she is. You are a beautiful and strong woman, Jennifer.

Ok, so about the session. Jennifer and I have been talking about doing Owen's newborn photos for a while. We both sheepishly hinted around the idea of doing the delivery, but when we both came at it at the same time, we got so excited! I've been wanting to do a delivery session for a long time and she wanted to capture those moments and allow daddy to just enjoy the experience. It was a match made in heaven! So she made sure that daddy was ok with a stranger being in the room for such an intimate moment in their new family's life and he agreed! Of course, Owen decided to be difficult and couldn't make up his mind on whether or not he wanted to come out so I was at work when things started happening! Luckily I made it just in time for Jen to tell me he decided "eh...maybe not!" Mom was super frustrated but I was secretly saying "yippee! I have time to get there now!" haha sorry Jen :)

So I think I've said all I can say to lead up to the photos so I'll just start and maybe interject a note here and there. So....the delivery of beautiful Owen Lee Getz born at 4:23pm on August 18, 2011 weighing a good 7lb 3oz!

Mommy being impatient :)

But oh so beautiful for how far along her labor was!!

I think this is the customary "daddy during labor" photo

Sorry Jen. You said I could take pictures! I was trying not to cry for you right here. <3

First look at little Owen.

The nursery nurse and Jennifer had a connection from their first babies. It was cool to see how close everyone was, including the staff!

Perfectly healthy!

I love minute old baby curls <3

7lb 3oz!!

Daddy trying to comfort him while the nurse was doing her thing. Such a cold and wide open world!!

Ten perfect little toes!!

Daddy's first time getting to hold him.

I kept shooting and shooting because they were just staring at each other for about five minutes. Silently staring. Introducing themselves in a way I've never seen before and it was so beautiful!

Ok Mommy's turn!

such a beautiful family!

This is a tad out of focus but I had to include it.

Congratulations Jennifer and Cody! I wish I could have stuck around for the first time Emma and Zander got to visit. See you at his newborn session!

Rohan is 1!!

This little guy first came to my studio when he was 3 months old. It doesn't seem like we should be doing his one year pics yet!!! He was such a character, even though he started out being really leery of me and my camera.

Holy moly...this is EXACTLY what he did at three months!!

mmmm! pick that nose!

I usually pride myself in being able to get expressions out of kids, but sometimes you just gotta let big brother make him laugh!!

He knows sign language!! "More" Anyon!!

This one was ALL me!

Oooh! Buttons!!

tickle tickle!!

Ella 12 days old!

Everyone meet beautiful Ella. She has the thickest black hair and the longest eyelashes I've seen on a 12 day old baby! We had quite an eventful day. She was battling a tummy-ache (we all know how horrible that is!) So, we spent the morning rocking, feeding, and cuddling. I even got big brother Dillon to sleep while mommy was working with the baby! Score me! Dillon was one of the first sessions I EVER did (MAN have I come a long way since then!!) when he was only three months old and then for his one year photos. I feel so lucky to have this family coming back to me again!

Can't forget big brother Dillon!
Thank you Jami for sharing your family with me once again!
